Sadie's Baptism

What  special day!  We've been waiting for May 17th for a long time.  Sadie was so excited "and nervous" at the same time.  It was so fun to have both grandparents and Uncle Curtis in town for this memorable event.  I was worried about having everyone under one roof but we all got along swimmingly and had a great time.

Something I spent a long time on was Sadie's baptism book where her guests were able to sign and share their testimonies.  It was touching to read the messages when we got home.  I also asked Sadie to share how she felt in her baptism book when she got home as well.  Hopefully it will help her remember this special day.

CC gave a talk about baptism and Mimi shared her thoughts on the Holy Ghost.  Both the talks were so touching and I had a hard time fighting back tears.  CC tearfully told Sadie and the other members of our family in attendance that she prays for each of us individually every night.  Mimi compared the Holy Ghost to Sadie's dog Clifford.  Over the years Clifford has comforted her and made her feel better when sad.  The Holy Ghost will be a comforter when she is somewhere without Clifford.  It really helped her understand what an amazing gift she was receiving.  Sadie smiled the whole time and as we held hands she gave me her secret "I love you" pulse that we usually do while holding hands.  It was a very special program and even Sadie was able to participate.  She played "I Am A Child of God" on the piano with Dad on the cello, uncle Curtis on the violin (and me at the pedal:-).  It was a beautiful musical number and I almost want to kick myself for not having someone film it!!  She played wonderfully!!
Sadie was especially happy that there was a dress available instead of a white jumpsuit, even if it was a little long on her.

We still can't believe she's old enough to get baptized!!
These darling sister missionaries helped prepare her for baptism by teaching her all the discussions over the past few months.  It was special having them in our home and teaching her about what an important decision she was making to be baptized.
Sadie was also a little missionary and invited many of her friends and their families who aren't of our faith to her baptism.  Three families came!!  Lily's family had a very positive experience and shared with me later that they would like to have more religion in their lives.  The talk on the Holy Ghost really touched them and Marty said that she would love to have something "helping her daughters choose between good and bad." I told her we can send over the missionaries whenever they are ready!

Everyone enjoyed some refreshments and then we had to clear out for another baptism from the other ward.

It was a great day!
