Easter with the Etheringtons

We were lucky enough to have Grandpa, Mimi and Aunt Jane come out for Easter this year. Jane's spring break was timed perfectly for the occasion. We pretty much just skipped out on all the tourist attractions and just relished the four days we had them all to ourselves. In preparation for Easter Sadie (and Jane) were insistent upon dying Easter eggs. So dye them we did! Jane, the artist, made by far the most creative eggs and was a little upset when Sadie decided to throw everyone's eggs back in the dye for another coloring experiment. Our little inquisitive Sadie couldn't wait to see what color the eggs would change into after she pulled them out. After a few wash downs, most of the eggs turned out a lovely shade of brown.

Easter Sunday was spectacular!! Grandpa made his most delicious french toast that after several attempts I can't replicate. There's something about his french toast that TOTALLY reminds me of sitting around our round table at home with Nick, Em, and Lizzie while we did Steve Urkel impersonations. Good food and good times.
Next up...the hunt!! The funny thing about Etheringtons is that even though most of us were in college, we still strapped on out bunny ears, held out baskets, and ran all over the front and back yards for the eggs that the Easter Bunny had so meticulously placed in the highest of trees. Even when we got married, we drove over and introduced the in-laws to our ever going tradition. There was always a Bakers cookie loaded with butter cream frosting hiding in a tree as well. We LOVE Easter at our house. White House, shmite house!!! If you could come to an Etherington hunt, you'd never camp out on Independence Drive again!! We're trying to carry on the hunt tradition in the Cannons fam and found eggs all over the house, the back and front yard and Sadie was in heaven.

Of course after all is said and done, one must take inventory of all collected. Sadie, Jane and Jack emptied their baskets and tallied up the total. Then it was time to eat!! Aunt Jane had been on a non-sugar diet for the past three/four months and decided Easter would be the day to end such a boring lifestyle.

After the morning festivities, Sadie went out to ride her new bike. The hoarder in me found a bike in mint condition (besides a flat tire) on the curb to be picked up by the garbage truck. Sometimes I can't believe what East Coasters throw away!! So I took it to a bike store and they fixed it up with a new tire and it's a good as new. I wanted to save it for a birthday present for Sades, but she found it and I couldn't hide it any longer. She loves that bike. When I finally find a red bike with no stickers or Disney characters etched upon the paint, I will replace this hideous BMX bike but as for now, Sadie couldn't be happier with her pink and purple Barbie Bike.
She rode it all the way to the park and raced down the road chasing anyone in her path. Now that Grandpa has gone back to Utah she doesn't ride as fast. I think he gave her her wings for the four days they played together. Hopefully she'll get them back so we can one day take off the training wheels.

Through out the whole day Jack just chilled as usual. He found a couple of eggs and crawled around picking up grass or any other object to stick in his mouth and spent a good half hour in the baby swing. I could leave him in there all day!!
