Getting in the Spirit

There might not be any snow but Christmas still blasts its way through Austin every year.  There were so many events every weekend that we didn't even end up doing all that we planned.  We loved getting our house ready.  The Christmas tree is so easy to assemble I wonder why anyone would ever buy a real tree again.  I took it out of the box, plugged it in and it was ready.  Five minutes!!  I still remember my dad refusing to put the tree every year because he hated stringing the lights so much.  I'm still trying to convince him that he needs this tree.  Connie sent all of Chase's old ornaments so we can finally fill up the whole tree!

We made a gingerbread house again and instead of putting gifts and toys in the advent calendar, we placed a family activity for every night.  It was either unwrapping a new book to read, making Santa faces, cutting up snowflakes, or something bigger on the weekend like going to see the trail of lights at Wimberly.

Sadie kept coming home with more and more decorations from school so our buffet table ended up being the "Kiker art and overflow of Christmas cards" table.

I loved going to the mail box everyday to see what card was in the mail.  George loved crawling up to the door and mangling any card he could get his chubby hands on.

One activity in our advent was taking a carriage ride at the Domain.  This also included seeing the HUGE tree in front of Macy's.

Of course Sadie was in heaven! Almost as cool as a pony ride for sure!!
